Who We Are
Kenya Assemblies of God Bible School was established in 1980 in Kisumu Kenya by Rev. Chuck Ness, an Assemblies of God missionary and scholar, with the aim of providing pastoral training for leaders who could not attend the residential school at EAST Africa School of Theology (now KAG EAST University). In 1982, the program was extended to Nairobi to cater to the growing need for trained ministers in the Kenya Assemblies of God organization. Missionary Quentin McGhee took over as the principal a few years later when Rev. Chuck Ness left for the USA for itineration engagements.
The first graduation ceremony was held in 1985, and 15 graduates received a Diploma in Bible and Theology from KAG National leadership. In 1991, the Loitoktok KAGE center was officially opened to serve the larger Maasai community and Tanzania brethren, thanks to the initiative of Rev. Bob and Muriel McCauley. During the same year, Rev. Peter Nuthu became the National Principal. During the dawn of the Assemblies of God global challenge of the Decade of Harvest the late General Superintended Bishop Peter G.W. Njiri encouraged the opening of more KAGE centers to enable pastors and lay church leaders to pursue and attain training from a walking distance to the school, thus making KAGE more accessible and cost-effective. This led to the opening of other centers in Mombasa, Meru, Nakuru, and Kitale by 1995, followed by Maralal in 1996, Awendo in 2000, Machakos in 1999, Ewaso in 2000 and Lodwar and Mumias in 2003.
KAGE Bible School has grown to be a dynamic institution, currently with 24 centers and a student population exceeding 1000. Our institution has equipped and graduated numerous pastors from KAG and other denominations since its inception. As a Pentecostal, Christ-centered, and Missional institution, KAGE is a member of the Association for Pentecostal Theological Education in Africa (APTEA) which is the accrediting body of Education for the Assemblies of God globally. We are committed to empowering ministers with high-quality, holistic, and biblically-sound leadership teachings. Our goal is to develop effective world changers, equipped to make a positive impact in their space. At KAGE, we continuously strive to be on the forefront of innovation, providing our students with cutting-edge training that is relevant and impactful for today's world.
